The Junior League of Long Beach is pleased to announce that Sustaining member, Holly Carpenter has been named the 2018 honoree for the Helen D. Newcomb Award. For the past 21 years this prestigious award has been given to the JLLB member who embodies the League’s mission, volunteers with a positive attitude, shares her knowledge by mentoring others and is an exemplary leader and role model in the service to others; and as a JLLB trained volunteer she has gone into the community to lead other organizations.
Holly joined the JLLB in 1989 and continues to support the League as both a member of the Sustainer Council and as a Board Mentor. Holly has a long history in the JLLB including Past President, 80th Anniversary Ad Hoc Co-chair, Board Mentor with an focus on training, and Sustaining Advisor. She is a graduate of the Leadership Long Beach Class of 2000, which confirms her belief in the importance of trained volunteers. Her volunteer relationships reach far and wide in our community including PTA, Wilson High School, Girl Scouts, Partners of the Park, Literary Women, Long Beach Yacht Club, Commissioner – City of Long Beach Marine Advisory Commission, Christmas in April, LB Grand Prix, and Founding Board Member BLAST (Better Learning After School Today), to name a few.
