Presidents Message

Thank you for visiting the Junior League of Long Beach’s website.  For 85 years, our members have made a big impact in Long Beach, by Joyfully Leading Lives to Blossom.

We have addressed critical needs in the community since 1931, with more than 400 Active and Sustaining members today.  The Junior League of Long Beach (JLLB) is a volunteer organization whose members share a common philosophy of community service and willingness to dedicate their resources and efforts to solving some of the greatest needs of our society.

As an organization, we have launched more than 60 programs within the community.  JLLB is currently working with community partners to:

  • Combat bullying through character development and life skill programs for 5th to 8th graders and their caregivers. These programs encourage relationship-building and respect for self and others.

  • Provide health and wellness information to the community through our Kids in the Kitchen programs.

  • Eradicate human trafficking, as we are charter members of the Human Trafficking Task Force in the city of Long Beach.

  • Organize the Lunafest film festival in the city of Long Beach, which enables us to not only further our programs, but enhance the research for the Breast Cancer Fund.

Our members are comprised of diverse professions, unique perspectives and yet share the vision for building a better community. The training our members receive in the League enables them to confidently serve as civic leaders, facilitators, educators and board members for other non-profits. We welcome new members twice per year, so be sure to be check back regularly.

I invite you to step forward and help the next generation of women leaders make significant impacts to improve the lives of children in Long Beach.  You can do that by becoming a member, supporting our fundraisers, or becoming a partner.  Big change happens when we work together as a Team and Joyfully Lead Lives to Blossom!

All the best,

Virginia Zart | President 2016-2017
