Christie Bettendorf, Sustaining Advisor

Christie has lived in the city of Long Beach for over twenty years, and currently resides in Lakewood Village.  She joined the Junior League of Long Beach in 2008 to become more involved in the community.  Immediately drawn to the Especially Me! Program, she served as one of its first after school teachers.  Christie served as President in 2017-18, and continues to be involved in the League as a Sustainer.

Christie received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Cal State Fullerton and her Masters of Arts in English Literature from Cal State Dominguez Hills.  She has taught high school English and film for 26 years, spending most of her career at John F. Kennedy High School, her alma mater.  She currently serves on the Anaheim Secondary Teachers Association Executive Board as Delegate to CTA State Council, and is also a member of the Bargaining Team. Additionally, she has been a member of the Literary Women of Long Beach for three years, and currently serves as the Authors Chair.

Christie enjoys spending time with her husband, Ramzi, and energetic boxer, Zuul.  A frequent traveler, Christie loves weekends in Lake Arrowhead and camping throughout the state, when she can read and hike.
