A 22 year member of the Junior League, Shelly Horvath is a past JLLB President and is also involved with several other community organizations, where she has been able to utilize many skills she learned in the JLLB.
“Say ‘yes’ to every opportunity that comes your way,” is a mantra Shelly always shares with others and has lived herself. The JLLB leadership and training opportunities have been empowering for both personal and professional growth, plus she is excited that there is always something new to learn in the League. But it’s the personal connections and the life-long friendships that are the foundation of the fun, the dedication and the support she gets from being a JLLB member.
Shelly has a degree in Journalism from Cal State Long Beach and has put it to use in her career in advertising and public relations. She is the Marketing Manager for DTS, a high-tech firm in Seal Beach that manufacturers miniature data recorders for crash and blast testing. She has been active in PTA, Girl Scouts and on the QUEST Parent Executive Committee at Millikan High School for many years. She is also the Troop Committee Chair for Boy Scout Troop 75 in Long Beach. When not volunteering, Shelly can be found cooking (or eating!) with her husband Peter of 25 years, getting updates from her daughter Annika who is studying Sweden or with her son Ethan taking their Xolo Mexican Hairless dogs Kickapu and Zumba to the beach.
