CANDIDATE FORUM
LONG BEACH CITY WIDE OFFICES

  ****
Presented by the Junior League of Long Beach and
the Long Beach Area League of Women Voters

(February 17, 2010, LONG BEACH, Calif.) – A candidates’ forum for the election of city wide offices will be held on March 10 at the Grand Long Beach Event Center, 4101 East Willow St., Long Beach from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.   The forum will be presented by the Junior League of Long Beach and moderated by the League of Women Voters.

On April 13 the City of Long Beach will hold a Primary Nominating Election. Included on the ballot are the offices of City Prosecutor and City Attorney.   The Junior League and League of Women Voters will be holding a candidates forum to help educate and inform Long Beach voters of the issues related to these two city offices.

Kristine Hammond of the Junior League has confirmed that both candidates for City Attorney, Mr. Tom Reeves and Mr. Robert E. Shannon, and that the candidates for City Prosecutor, Mr. Dough Haubert and Mr. Timothy O’Reilly, have agreed to participate. This forum will give the candidates an opportunity to present their positions and to answer questions from the audience.   LWV President, Phyllis O’Connor, explained that candidates will make opening statements, answer written questions from the audience and make brief closing statements.   “Our organizations encourage Long Beach voters to attend what promises to be an informative event and to participate with their questions.”

For information, call Kristine Hammond (Junior League) at 562-331-1214 or Phyllis O’Connor (LWV) at 562-438-5478.
