2 November 2009

LONG BEACH – 2009 - The Junior League of Long Beach (“JLLB”) is proud to announce its President for the 2009-10 year, Jennifer Blanchard. Jennifer is committed to serving the women and children of Long Beach through leadership with the JLLB. Her passion is to inspire JLLB members to volunteer their time and talent to improve the community. Jennifer has devoted the past 8 years serving the JLLB in positions such as, Finance Vice President, Treasurer, and now President.

An old Greek Proverb offers, “A civilization flourishes when people plant trees under which they will never sit.” Jen was Inspired by her grandmother, Marialice Johnson who planted the first tree by volunteering for JLLB by her mother, Anne Johnson, who served as President of JLLB in 2006-2007. Jennifer hopes to Inspire future generations, including her own three children Jacqui (age 10), Katie (age 7 ½) and Garrett (age 4) towards serving their community through voluntarism.

“There are so many things that I am proud of,” Mrs. Blanchard reflects, “I am especially proud that our organization offers women in our community the opportunity to positively impact the city of Long Beach and surrounding areas, while also providing our members training opportunities and tools to develop our potential as community volunteers.”

Currently, Jen is the Revenue Manager for the Long Beach Marriott. She enjoys playing soccer and spending time with her family. Jennifer hopes to Ignite the interest of women in Long Beach who want to become more active and involved as volunteers. For more information on how you can give back to your community through this organization, go to www.jllb.org.
