Our History
2000 - Today 1990 - 1999 1960 - 1989 1930 - 1959 The First Decade

2000s
The New Millennium brought even more change to our city and our League.  The Pike development made the Shoreline and Aquarium neighborhoods hot.  Gladstones, Bubba Gump’s, P.F. Chang’s and the Auld Dubliner welcomed locals and tourists as well.  Bono’s, Nico’s, California Pizza Kitchen, Tantalum and many other dining spots opened.

Fourth Street saw the rebirth of antique and vintage stores.  Bixby Knolls Center did some upgrading.  Robinson-May department stores closed or became Macy’s.

High Rise condos and lofts downtown increased in popularity.  The Craftsman Village Historic District received a “Neighborhood USA” award and California Heights was named Sunset Magazine Best Neighborhood.  Ground was broken for the future Douglas Park.

Our league became leaner and stronger in its outreach to members and the community.
