Healthy Active Long Beach

JLLB has partnered with the City of Long Beach’s Health and Human Services and their Healthy Active Long Beach program to increase outreach and impact of Junior League’s Kids in the Kitchen program. March 13, 2011, marked the first partner event with the two entities at MLK park downtown.

Healthy Active Long Beach was instrumental to the expansion of our Kids in the Kitchen program, which in 2012 provided education on the importance of healthy eating and exercise to more than 1,100 children and their families. The 2012 event included a mobile dental screening unit, a peace garden, cereal limbo, veggie bowling, an obstacle course activity run by Long Beach Parks & Recreation, and much more. There was also a mobile CalFresh (Mobile Food Stamp Unit) on-site to promote enrollment. For more information on Healthy Active Long Beach, click here.
