Janis Kleinberg, Sustaining Advisor
Janis is a long-time Long Beach resident and JLLB member. She has been married to her college sweetheart, Richard, for 41 years, and has one son and two grandsons.
Her favorite parts of JLLB are the long-time friendships she has made with other JLLB members and the community connections made through all of her JLLB projects. She noted her favorite placements as Membership Chair, Parent Survival and the Rummage Sale. In addition to JLLB, Janis is also the immediate past chairman of CAMEO.
Professionally, Janis worked for Long Beach Unified School District for 30 years, mostly in the field of elementary mathematics and computers, and finished her career as a Title I facilitator. During her “break” from work to raise her children, she built and operated a small computer learning center for children and adults and worked as a consultant for Addison-Wesley Publishing Company (math textbooks). Following retirement, she worked for the Mind Institute, which is a computer math software program.
In addition to volunteering, Janis enjoys golf, yoga, decorating, gardening, movies, reading, and travel.
